Have fun

Here at WestWon, we believe work socials are crucial to the running of a happy and harmonious team. That is why we have implemented Thirsty Thursdays, where for every first Thursday of the month, we head to a local pub/bar to regroup and celebrate the near-end of the week! As well as various other company outings that take place throughout the year. These include: Windsor races, night outs out after company quarterly meetings, and of course, Christmas dos!

Not to mention our Friday lunch club, which takes place on the last Friday of every month. It is where a takeaway feast takes place (all on the company) to celebrate the end of the month!

Work in a way that works for you

We understand that everyone’s situations are different. We all have different responsibilities, needs and preferences. That is why we offer hybrid working. We like to give our employees the choice of their workspace, with 32% of our employees now working remotely.

Career Prospects

Meet Commercial Director, George.
When did I join WestWon?

Hi, I’m George. I first met WestWon at a careers day whilst a student at the local Bucks New University. Having studied Business Management, I was desperate to get a job with a business where I could learn about a business and begin my career. WestWon were recruiting for an administration assistant role at the careers day and I approached them to discuss the role. I attended a couple of interviews for the job a couple of weeks later and to my delight I was awarded the role to start a week after my studies finished. Fresh out of university I was keen to learn and although it took me a couple of months to get my head around leasing, it soon caught on and I was away.

What was it like when I first joined?

I was fortunate enough to be managed by Carol McNamara, who heads up our operations department. Carol’s been in the leasing industry 30 + years and is a fountain of knowledge, whenever anyone had a technical question, Carol was the point of contact so I was in good hands.

With my leasing knowledge growing, I moved from department to department, first working in operations, then sales and marketing. Sales was great for me as it gave me the opportunity to build relationships with other people, which I love doing, but also it helped me come out of my shell as I was a quiet person prior to joining WestWon. After a few years I started managing departments and eventually became a director of WestWon in 2021. My focus is now on continuing to move the company forward and keep us at the forefront of all things leasing and asset finance.

What have I learnt?

The beauty of working for a SME (Small & Medium sized enterprise) is you really get to see how a business is run in great detail. At WestWon we don’t hide our successes or failures from our team, if we’re having a good or bad month/year, everyone knows. This has its positives and negatives, but it’s nice knowing where you are as a company and help us all pull towards the same goal. All members of the team are encouraged to come to the senior management team with ideas for the business, many of which are implemented.

Why WestWon?

Working for WestWon has been incredible for my career and for myself personally. WestWon highlights personal development, we have a meeting room filled with personal development books, we’re actively encouraged to take these books home and read. WestWon are great to have as an employer. 9 years on at the time of writing and I’m still technically in my ‘first job’ and I couldn’t be happier. WestWon truly has an amazing culture and looks after their employees well, many of us have been here well over 5 years, with some working for the company 10 + even 20 + years!

I couldn’t think of working anywhere else. If you’re interested in a role at WestWon I’d be happy to have a discussion with you about the company in further detail, it would be worth your time.

Meet Royah.
When did I join WestWon?

I joined WestWon in November 2013.

What was it like when I first joined?

When I first joined, there were roughly 10 employees and we were based out of offices in Beaconsfield. We’re now approaching 30 employees and we’ve moved to larger premises in High Wycombe.

What have I learnt?

It’s hard to describe how much I’ve learnt in just a few sentences. When I joined WestWon I had no previous sales or asset finance experience, having previously worked in the hospitality industry. The experienced members of the team at WestWon really took me under their wing and taught me every aspect of the job from the ins and outs of the finance industry, and how to connect with prospective clients. This training armed me with all the necessary tools that have enabled me to make a success of my role. Whether you’re a leasing veteran or totally new to the industry, I couldn’t recommend the training at WestWon enough.

Why WestWon?

WestWon offer an amazing commission package and they are always running some kind of fun incentive. I once won £1,000 on our ‘wheel of fortune’ which I put toward a trip to Disneyland with my two sons. All our employees are fun and friendly which means we always have a great time together at social events. Our clients and partners are lovely to work with too, and I genuinely enjoy helping with all of their finance requirements, whatever they may be.

Employee Journeys

Millie
Meet Millie.
When did I join WestWon?

Hi, I’m Millie, I did a one-year marketing placement at WestWon. I started my placement in July 2021 and in July 2023 I will be returning to WestWon after graduating with my degree in Business Management and Marketing from Nottingham Trent University.

What was it like when I first joined for my placement?

I had not had a solely focused marketing job like this before I started and so was very apprehensive about working for a company like WestWon. However, after meeting the team and familiarising myself with the way they work, my worries were very quickly eased.

What did I learn on my placement?

One of the things I was most surprised with was the amount of training we were provided with. The company was kind enough to pay for external training in London that I was able to gain so much from. Throughout my placement year I went on over 15 different training sessions, all that have enabled me to delve deeper into the world of marketing. Whilst being at University gave me theory for my placement year, applying it at WestWon has given me skills and knowledge for life, something that I am very grateful for being able to learn and apply. I look forward to returning and applying my now finished degree to my tasks at WestWon with the new found skills I have acquired.

Why WestWon?

Even though I had only been at WestWon for a year, I was very sad to leave. The team is amazing and helped me at every turn, as well as being extremely patient! This was just one of the many reasons why I was glad to be returning. There are many benefits to working at WestWon including the training opportunities, events and exhibitions, the flexibility that comes with working in a way that suits you, as well as all the nights out with the team!
