Recruiting for a sales role in High Wycombe
WestWon are a leasing company based in High Wycombe. We already have a sales team made up of internal sales and field-based employees who travel the country meeting prospects and the partners we work with.
As a graduate, we are not expecting you to have sales experience. You probably do not even know that much about how a business is run. This can all be taught to the right candidate. As long as you are hard working and bright, you will pick it up over time.
Is a sales career right for you?
I studied Accountancy and Financial Control at Sheffield Hallum University. (It was Sheffield Polytechnic in my day, we still refer to it as “Poly”). When I finished the final exam, we spent the next few weeks partying. It was only then, financially broke from four years of studying, that I decided I needed to earn some money. For the next eight weeks I worked on a building site. I liked being outside and not having to use my brain, I had enough of that with all the finals I had to sit.
It was September when my head was clear and I decided it was time to find a job. I liked the idea of a sales job. I wanted to get in a car and travel around the country visiting different towns. Selling was a great way to earn lots of money and I already knew about the buzz you get from making a sale.
For me, I knew that a sales career was right, but will it be right for you?
Selling is not for everyone. Rejection is one of the biggest issues sales people have to deal with. We all lose deals. At WestWon, the problem is not losing a deal, the problem is not learning from not winning a deal. No one gets fired if you lose a lease deal as long as you learn and pick yourself up quickly.
Confidence. This is also a big factor if you wish to have a successful sales career. Sales people do not have to be the life and sole of a party. You do not need a massive personality to be successful. However, you do need to be confident in a one to one or group environment.
Graduate recruitment for a sales role
We are looking to recruit a team of graduates into our sales team. Like myself, you will have the summer off to start work in September 2018. We will be providing training on how to sell and the world of leasing.
Once trained, there are a number of roles that could be suitable to you. Some of you might wish to be internally based, others on the road in the field as we say. Some people are what we call “hunters”, those who go out there and track down new customers. We then have “farmers,” sales people who are more geared to farming and growing an existing relationship. Whatever you are, we are confident you can make a success of your first sales role at WestWon.
Please call George Shillingford and introduce yourself on the phone on 01494 611 456. Please do not hide behind email, we are a sales organisation and like speaking to people or meeting them face to face.
Good luck with your exam results, if you are successful, I look forward to welcoming you aboard this September.
