We have been building a list of all gym equipment manufacturers who sell gym and fitness equipment into the UK. A much larger task we have been undertaking is to compile a list of all the products, pricing and model numbers of these gym machine manufactures. How we built our list of UK gym suppliers and manufacturers
When we set up our gym leasing division, the first thing we did was to enter into Google the search term. “List of UK gym suppliers.” Normally there is a company out there that has a list to sell! Alas, we could not find any company that has a list of UK gym suppliers. We changed the search criteria, surely there is a company that has collated a list of all the manufacturers and supplier of gym equipment in the UK.
We can confidently say, that as at January 2018, we cannot find one company that has a list we could buy. If we are wrong here, please call us and we will rewrite this blog!
Anyway, this is how we have gone about working out who all the suppliers are and what all the mode numbers and types of equipment are:
Joining the ukactive organisation
We became a member of the ukactive organisation for a number of reasons, one being they do have a big database which they give out as part of the membership. There was not a lot of data we could extrapolate here as their gym and fitness centre database was made up mostly of clubs as opposed to suppliers and manufacturers into the gym sector.

Searching for gym and fitness suppliers on Yell
Data on Yell is often sparse; however, they do normally have a good list of companies to work from and they provide the company web address which is very useful. Whilst we were able to add some companies to our database, it was hard work. Their list is peppered with locksmiths, gyms and other organisations that do not sell gym equipment.
Gym equipment suppliers on Google
Enter the search term “ Gym equipment manufacturers UK” and within a second there are 1.8m results. After you scan past the four adverts you can start building a list. Get to page three or four, and the same names keep popping up!
We are speaking to all UK gyms and leisure centres
Our gym division will speak to all privately-owned gyms, gym franchises and leisure centres in the UK to ask them what equipment they use, and who they bought it from. This will take some time, but hopefully at the end we will be able to honestly say we have the most definitive list of gym equipment suppliers in the UK.
Our objective
Our aim is to have a list of all gym equipment manufacturers, the equipment they sell and their UK suppliers or distributors of gym equipment.
